Just back from the NAMS 3 (Niche Affiliate Marketing System) conference in Atlanta, Georgia. A very full event in every sense of the word. Lots to process over the next few days.

While, I got a lot out of the content, for me it was the mental "you can do it" and fresh perspectives—both in and outside the presentations—that were most needed.

It was great to finally meet so many people with whom I've been working virtually for the past year, in particular Sid Hale of Rapid Action Profits and Lynn Terry of SSWT. And, of course, all the new connections and friendships! These alone made it well worth the 20 hour drive.

Thank you everyone and thank you David for bringing us all together.

Patience of a Saint Award

I'm sure you've all been on those internet marketing teleseminars or webinars where gremlins have messed with the technology so badly that the pedagogical aspirations of the host and listeners were seriously threatened.

And yet (through barking dogs, dishwashing, and more), they roll up their sleeves and implicitly, if not explicitly, declare, "the show must go on!"

Or worse, how about those Q&A sessions that turn into customer support calls, an airing of grievances or long drawn out personal stories having little to do with the topic?

I often find myself simultaneously shocked, amused, and impressed—impressed by the calm, polite manner with which the "pros" handle these situations. Hence this post to applaud their steadfastness and patience.

So, let's hear it...

Which internet marketer do you think deserves a "Patience of a Saint Award?" Tell us the story behind the accolade. This should be fun.

oscommerce, zencart, magento, prestashop

Got a favorite Open Source e-commerce solution? I'm looking for first-hand experiences — good and bad. Are there any that folks should definitely avoid?

Magento looks really nice, very feature rich, but despite being on the docket, they still don't have a built-in means of offering an affiliate program. Some of the others at least provide plug-in capabilities for this.

Several use CSS, but the older ones, like osCommerce, still use tables. What else should we consider? Which has the most potential, etc.?

I'm sure many would like to happen upon and engage in this kind of discussion when comparison "shopping" for their first store. So, please comment with your thoughts, opinions, and experiences.
